Solving Critical SAP S/4HANA Talent Gaps Under Transformation Pressure
- April 29, 2026
A leading global supplier of automotive, industrial, and mobility-oriented lubricant solutions, with sales spanning more than 140 countries and distribution through over 80,000 locations worldwide, the company supports a diverse portfolio that includes oils, coolants, and specialty fluids for internal combustion, hybrid, and electric drivetrains.
The client found itself at a critical juncture during a recent large-scale S/4HANA transformation. Despite the company’s operational strength and global reach, the initiative exposed significant S/4HANA talent gaps internally that threatened to slow the program and put key deliverables at risk.
The challenges were compounded by several converging pressures: internal teams lacked the bandwidth to take on expanded project responsibilities while managing their day-to-day workloads; turnover within the system integrator‘s team created sudden, unplanned resource voids; and with project budget constraints ruling out traditional full-time hiring, the client needed a faster, more flexible path to qualified talent — including offshore options — without sacrificing quality or fit.
The client engaged BCTG, confident in the depth of its talent network and the rigor of its vetting process. BCTG moved quickly, deploying a targeted mix of contract and contract-to-hire resources to address the client’s S/4HANA talent gaps. Resources were deployed across the functional areas that needed them most: Supply Chain Management, Finance, Treasury, Project Systems, and SuccessFactors.
The results validated the partnership. Resources deployed on initial six-month contracts proved their value and were extended well beyond a year, while contract-to-hire candidates successfully converted to full-time employees at the six-, nine-, and twelve-month marks. The client credited BCTG’s thorough screening process as a key factor in the quality and longevity of each placement and has since identified BCTG as a preferred partner for future SAP contracting and staffing needs.
