Contracting an Experienced Data Engineer to Create a Consolidated Data Warehouse

  • August 28, 2023

Our Client is a multi-brand holding company owning some of the most popular fashion and clothing brands across the retail industry. As a conglomeration of various established brands and retailers, the holding company quickly realized the lack of data accessibility and use as a key obstacle to their strategic goals for the company as a whole, as well as the individual brands. Realizing the need for an experienced data engineer resource capable of managing the complex requirements of multiple data types, formats, locations, and more, our Client contacted BCTG for help identifying the right-fit resource.

Business Challenges

Our Client’s growth and the acquisitions under our Client’s umbrella over recent years has created an unsustainable data environment with various data architectures disjointed and misaligned across the business. As such, the lack of a consolidated data warehouse left executive leadership lacking a global, holistic, and data-backed view of the business across the various brands. Data trust was at an all-time low in the business as no centralized data mart provided the robust reporting and analytics needs of the business.

Contracting an Experienced Data Engineer with BCTG

Taking into account these specific challenges, coupled with the unique nature of our Client’s multi-brand, multi-national business, BCTG tapped its robust network of fit-for-purpose consultants to identify multiple potential candidates with the necessary technical skills, project management expertise, and experience to delight our Client beyond the job description.

Following individual interviews with our Client, one of BCTG’s candidates was selected and quickly embedded himself as a valuable resource on our Client’s team, providing weekly updates to stakeholders and incorporating feedback continuously to ultimately realize an enhanced data warehouse with advanced capabilities leveraging DBT and Snowflake as the technical assets.
