Finding a Job as a Temporary SAP Resource

  • October 4, 2022

Whether a company is recruiting and hiring from within or outsourcing through a staffing agency, searching for an open position as a temporary SAP resource can be overwhelming. As a temporary resource, you are not only filling an immediate need, but you are expected to have all the necessary skills – and if you do not, you must be a quick learner.

Contingent workers are typically sought out when a company is looking to save time and money, so be mindful of that and only apply to positions for which you qualify. After all, the company is looking for the best fit for the positions, and it is on you to ensure that you are that candidate.

Fulfill The Company’s Needs

As you explore open positions for temporary SAP resources, consider the skills, characteristics, and experiences needed. The company is searching for a candidate that will fulfill its needs both efficiently and immediately. Are you well-equipped with the skills required? Do you have experience in the necessary SAP programs? Are you able to work on a team or lead a project? Compare your skillset and abilities to the job description, demands, and expectations. If you feel this role is a good fit for you, your résumé and references should reflect that. On the other hand, if you are not aligned with what is required, do not waste your time and the time of those recruiting or hiring, and instead, search for another open position better suited for your skillset.

Assess Suitability

After you have decided that you are well-suited for the open position based on skills and experience, take a dive into researching the company itself. Do your goals and beliefs line up with those of the company? For example, if you are passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, has this company made commitments toward improving its efforts? While you are only being sought out to fulfill a short-term need, your suitability with the company depends on more than just your skillset.

Exceed Expectations

The recruiting and hiring process of a temporary SAP resource may appear similar to that of a full-time candidate, although the requirements are much more detailed. A full-time candidate will often have access to benefits and training that a temporary employee will not, so it is important that you are equipped with the skills needed for the position from the start. Along with the hard and soft skills expected for this position, consider how well you would mesh with the company and its culture. At the end of the day, remain realistic and mindful when applying for a temporary SAP position.
